The EMDR Therapist Network began at a Portland, Oregon EMDR study group meeting.

One of the members saw the opportunity to satisfy two needs: to give the public more detailed information about trauma and PTSD and help them locate the therapists who were actively offering EMDR services in their community; and to give the therapists who have been trained a way to find study groups and connect with the public.

Vision

To identify and soften the impact of trauma, loss and grief on individuals, couples, children, families, communities, society and the environment

Mission

To support the professional practices of those individuals who are committed to transforming the impact of trauma.

To educate the public and other service providers about the link between trauma, loss and grief, and personal (and global) health and well-being.

To encourage the widespread use of EMDR for the systematic resolution of distressing experiences, and as part of a treatment protocol for the development of internal resources, emotional intelligence, personal growth, and healthy interpersonal relationships.

To build collaborative relationships between local EMDR therapists, and other community-based service providers.
